چکیده: پرسهای هیدرولیك نیروی خود را از حركت یك پیستون در داخل یك سیلندر به دست می آورند. این حركت زمانی ایجاد میشود كه یك سیال تحت فشار وارد محفظه سیلندر شود. وضعیت سیال توسط پمپ و شیرهائی جهت افزایش، كاهش و یا حفظ فشار به صورت مورد نیاز درآمده و میتواند نیروی لازم برای به حركت درآوردن پیستون را فراهم كند. بنابراین نیروی موجود در پرس هیدرولیك با حداكثر فشار موجود در سیلندر تعیین میشود.پرسهای هیدرولیك قادرند تناژ كامل خود را در هر وضعیتی از حركت سیلندرها به قطعه كار اعمال نمایند. همچنین طول حركت سیلندرها را میتوان در هر حدی از مسیر حركت محدود ساخت. این در حالی است كه در پرس های مكانیكی تناژ كامل را تنها در انتهای مسیر حركت ضربه زدن میتوان كسب نمود. همچنین مسیر حركت ضربه زدن در این پرس ها مقدار ثابتی است.
